Sunjay Kapur’s death sparks a fierce battle over his ₹30,000-crore estate, with Priya Sachdev Kapur, Samaira, Kiaan and Rani Kapur making rival claims.

The court issued notice to Priya and directed her to submit a list of all assets.
The sudden death of industrialist Sunjay Kapur during a polo match in England this June has triggered a stormy legal feud over his estimated ₹30,000-crore fortune. The drama reached the Delhi High Court on Wednesday, where his children from actor Karisma Kapoor, his widow Priya Sachdev Kapur and his mother Rani Kapur all presented sharply conflicting claims.
Children Challenge ‘Fabricated Will’

Sunjay Kapur’s daughter Samaira (20) and son Kiaan (15) petitioned for one-fifth share each in their father’s estate. Their plea contests a purported March 21 will, which bequeaths the entire personal estate to Priya Sachdev Kapur, Sunjay Kapur’s third wife. The children allege that the will was “fabricated,” pointing out that neither their father nor Priya Sachdev Kapur had ever mentioned its existence. They also accused Priya Sachdev Kapur’s associates, Dinesh Agarwal and Nitin Sharma, of suppressing the will for seven weeks before unveiling it at a family meeting in July.
Widow Defends Her Claim
Priya Sachdev Kapur argued that the petition was “not maintainable” because the children had already received ₹1,900 crore through the Rani Kapur Family Trust (RK Trust), which holds substantial stakes in auto components major Sona Comstar.
“So much crying… after receiving ₹1,900 crore worth of assets. I don’t know how much is enough,” her counsel told the court, defending the will despite it not being registered. Priya Sachdev Kapur further reminded the court that she was Sunjay Kapur’s last lawfully wedded wife.
“I am a widow. I was his last lawfully wedded wife. Where were you? Your husband left you many years ago,” her lawyer said, alluding to Karisma Kapoor’s divorce from Sunjay Kapur in 2016.
Appealing for compassion, Priya Sachdev Kapur added, “Please have some sympathy for the soul of the deceased. I have a six-year-old child. Karisma was nowhere to be seen for the last 15 years.”
Sunjay Kapur’s Mother Says She’s ‘Left Without A Roof’
Sunjay Kapur’s 80-year-old mother Rani Kapur told the court that she had been “left without a roof,” claiming assets worth ₹10,000 crore that she believed were hers had been diverted through the RK Trust, now under Priya Sachdev Kapur’s control.
“My son today leaves me with not a roof on my head? I am 80 years old. Today I have nothing,” she said. She alleged that Rani Kapur had written multiple emails seeking clarity about the will but was met with silence as she told the court, “There is something incredibly unholy. ₹10,000 crore worth of assets should have been mine.”
Justice Jyoti Singh issued notice to Priya Sachdev Kapur and directed her to submit a comprehensive list of all movable and immovable assets as of June 12, the day of Sunjay Kapur’s death. The matter has been listed for further hearing on October 9.
