Congress leader Rahul Gandhi’s proposed “Students Ki Goonj” program in Dehradun on July 17 has become the center of a political controversy after permission for the event at Parade Ground was reportedly not granted. The report states that following the cancellation of permission and late-night political developments, Congress decided to shift the venue of the program. Rahul Gandhi’s event will now reportedly be held at Mannu School Ground instead. Congress leaders have criticized the decision and accused the government of attempting to restrict Rahul Gandhi’s interaction with students and the public. The party has alleged that the government is afraid of the message being delivered through such programs and has accused it of putting pressure on students and citizens. Congress leaders further stated that political actions against public voices would eventually have consequences. The venue dispute has added another point of confrontation between Congress and the government ahead of Rahul Gandhi’s scheduled student interaction in Dehradun.
