Political developments in Maharashtra have intensified over speculation about a possible merger between the two factions of the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP). NCP (Sharad Pawar faction) leader Jayant Patil has denied reports that the party is preparing to merge with the Ajit Pawar-led faction. His statement came amid growing speculation that Sharad Pawar could change his political position and move closer to the NDA. Patil also said that no internal discussion had taken place within his faction regarding support on issues such as delimitation, adding that party leaders in Delhi would make decisions after consultations. The report highlights ongoing uncertainty after the death of Ajit Pawar, claiming that questions have emerged over leadership control within the Ajit Pawar faction. It also states that BJP leaders may prefer both NCP factions to unite before joining the NDA rather than entering separately. However, the possibility of a merger and any future political alliance remains unconfirmed.
