Congress leader and Leader of Opposition Rahul Gandhi’s proposed “Students Ki Goonj” program in Dehradun on July 17 has been moved to a new venue after permission was reportedly not granted for the event at Parade Ground. The report states that the cancellation of permission led to a political dispute between Congress and the government. After late-night discussions, Congress decided to shift the program to Balu School Ground, while maintaining that Rahul Gandhi’s interaction with students would continue as planned. Congress leaders criticized the decision, alleging that the government was attempting to stop Rahul Gandhi from communicating with students and the public. They claimed that the government was uncomfortable with the issues being raised through such interactions and accused it of acting against students and ordinary citizens. The venue controversy has become another point of political confrontation, with Congress asserting that the event will proceed despite the change in location.
