The Bharat NCAP certification covers variants powered by the T160 manual transmission, T280 manual transmission and T280 dual-clutch automatic transmission.Nissan Motor India’s mid-size SUV, Tekton, has secured a five-star safety rating under the Bharat New Car Assessment Programme (Bharat NCAP).
According to the Bharat NCAP fact sheet, the rating applies across multiple Tekton variants equipped with manual and DCT transmissions, including Visia, Acenta, N-Connecta, Tekna and Tekna+ trims.
The assessment, conducted in June 2026, is based on the Renault Duster as the Tekton is a “corporate twin” of the SUV. Bharat NCAP noted that both vehicles have an identical body structure and safety equipment, allowing the safety rating to be extended to the Nissan model.
The fact sheet further states that the Tekton comes with key safety assist technologies as standard across all variants, including Electronic Stability Control (ESC), curtain airbags, pedestrian protection systems and seat belt reminders.
The Bharat NCAP certification covers variants powered by the T160 manual transmission, T280 manual transmission and T280 dual-clutch automatic transmission.
The safety rating comes as Nissan prepares to strengthen its presence in India’s highly competitive mid-size SUV segment. The Tekton, based on the Renault-Nissan Alliance’s CMF-B platform, is expected to compete with models such as the Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara, Toyota Hyryder, Honda Elevate and Tata Curvv.
