Singer and former Bigg Boss 14 contestant Jaan Kumar Sanu has been hospitalised after testing positive for COVID-19. The singer shared the news with fans on Sunday through a video recorded from his hospital bed, choosing humour to break the news.Jaan, who is the son of veteran playback singer Kumar Sanu, has not disclosed when he first developed symptoms or how long he is expected to remain under medical observation.Sharing the video on social media, Jaan captioned it, “China se aaya mera dost 🦇 Covid ko salaam karo.”He also joked about his hospital stay, writing, “Fit check – Wearing my favourite designer: Kokilaben. Checked in for: COVID from Wuhan.”The light-hearted post prompted an outpouring of support from fans and industry colleagues. Although Jaan maintained a cheerful tone in his posts, the video confirmed that he is receiving treatment at a hospital rather than recovering at home. He has not shared details about the severity of the infection, the treatment being administered, or whether those who were recently in contact with him have undergone testing.Jaan rose to prominence after participating in Bigg Boss 14 and has since remained active as a singer and performer while regularly interacting with fans on social media. His announcement comes amid reports of fresh COVID-19 infections in parts of Andhra Pradesh. According to reports, health authorities have detected eight active cases in YSR Kadapa district in recent weeks. Two patients who had tested positive reportedly died while undergoing treatment.Following the latest cases, district authorities have stepped up surveillance and deployed rapid-response teams to collect samples in affected areas. Reports suggest that around 40 samples were collected, of which 18 tested negative, while the remaining results are awaited.Some of the samples have also been sent to a laboratory in Pune for genome sequencing to identify the circulating variant and better understand its transmission pattern.Health authorities have advised residents not to panic but to continue following basic precautions, including wearing masks in crowded places, maintaining hand hygiene and consulting a doctor if COVID-like symptoms develop.Further updates on Jaan Kumar Sanu’s health are awaited.
