Fresh developments have emerged from Ayodhya as Swami Vasudevanand Saraswati has reportedly become the leading choice for the post of General Secretary of the Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra Trust. According to sources, several trust members, along with leaders associated with the Vishva Hindu Parishad and prominent saints from Ayodhya, are said to favor his appointment if a leadership transition takes place. However, sources indicate that Swami Vasudevanand Saraswati has not agreed to accept the proposed responsibility. Reports suggest he has expressed reluctance to take over the position, citing the recent controversy surrounding the trust’s administration and the resulting impact on the institution’s public image. Discussions to persuade him have reportedly continued over the past several days, involving trust members, religious leaders, and representatives from affiliated organizations. The development comes as the trust continues deliberations on the reported resignation of General Secretary Champat Rai. No official decision has yet been announced regarding the acceptance or rejection of the resignation, and the matter remains under discussion during the ongoing trust meeting. Alongside leadership issues, the trustees are also reviewing governance reforms, administrative restructuring, financial oversight, and measures to strengthen transparency within the organization. The outcome of these discussions is expected to shape the future functioning of the trust and its administrative framework. An official announcement is expected after the conclusion of the meeting through a press briefing, where the trust is likely to clarify its decisions on leadership, governance, and other key agenda items. Until then, discussions regarding the appointment of a new General Secretary remain based on sources and have not been officially confirmed.
