Heavy rainfall has severely disrupted transport between Mumbai and Pune, bringing both road and rail connectivity to a standstill. A major landslide at the Missing Link section forced authorities to shut the route, while severe waterlogging near Amrutanjan Bridge and Khalapur Toll Plaza led to the closure of the old Mumbai–Pune Expressway. Another landslide on the old Mumbai–Pune Highway further affected road traffic, making travel extremely difficult. Police and local authorities have closed the affected routes as a precaution and urged the public to avoid all non-essential travel between the two cities. On the railway network, multiple landslides between Karjat and Lonavala caused major disruptions. Near Thakurwadi, a large section of a hill collapsed onto the railway tracks, affecting all three rail lines. Another landslide occurred around 3:05 a.m. between Khandala and Monkey Hill, worsening the situation. Railway teams are carrying out restoration work, but train services remain disrupted. Authorities have advised residents to stay indoors unless absolutely necessary, as heavy rainfall is expected to continue throughout the day, increasing the risk of further landslides and flooding.
