Suniel Shetty left shoot abruptly when he heard of Divya Bharti’s death

Suniel Shetty left shoot abruptly as soon he heard of Divya Bharti's death, says Madhoo: 'He had known her well'

Veteran actor Madhoo recently looked back on an emotional moment from the sets of ‘Hum Hain Bemisaal’, recalling how Suniel Shetty abruptly left the shoot after receiving the heartbreaking news of Divya Bharti’s death. Madhoo revealed that Suniel shared a close bond with Divya and immediately travelled to Mumbai upon hearing of her passing. When asked if she had ever met Divya Bharti, Madhoo said they never had the opportunity to meet in person. However, she shared that their families knew each other well, as Divya’s father and her own father were close friends who often met at the beach. She also recalled that Hema Malini had cast Divya in her directorial debut, ‘Dil Aashna Hai’.“So I knew she was a part of my own family movie,” the ‘Roja’ actress said in an interview with IANS. Recalling the incident on the sets of ‘Hum Hain Bemisaal’, Madhoo said, “I was shooting for a film called ‘Hum Hain Bemisaal’, and we were in Shimla. Suniel Shetty and I were shooting when Divya passed away. And while we were shooting, Suniel had known her well, so he left the shooting to fly down.”Divya Bharti died on April 5, 1993, at the age of 19 after falling from the balcony of her fifth-floor apartment in Bombay. Although the circumstances surrounding her death have continued to spark speculation over the years, the case was officially ruled an accidental fall. Directed by Deepak Bahry, ‘Hum Hain Bemisaal’ was released on December 16, 1994. The action thriller starred Suniel Shetty and Madhoo in the lead roles, with Akshay Kumar, Shilpa Shirodkar and others playing pivotal parts. The film was produced under the Spectrum Pictures Combine banner.
