Raghava Lawrence clarifies on contesting in the Trichy East election

Is Raghava Lawrence contesting in the Trichy East election? 'Kanchana' actor confirms his political stand

Actor, choreographer, and filmmaker Raghava Lawrence has finally responded to the rumours surrounding his political entry. It is reported that in the last few days, speculations about him contesting from the Trichy East seat have sparked a lot of interest among the people. Raghava Lawrence had earlier sought the public’s opinion about his political plans. After some of his remarks at a recent press meet sparked controversy, he released a detailed video to explain his position and address the ongoing speculation.

Raghava Lawrence clarifies on contesting in Trichy East

Putting an end to the rumours, Raghava Lawrence categorically said, “I will not contest from Trichy East. Joining politics today and immediately becoming an MLA is not dharma.” Explaining his decision, he added, “Vijay may have already chosen someone for that constituency, or there may be many dedicated TVK workers who have been serving the party for years. The opportunity should go to one of them, not to me.” His statement has effectively ruled out reports that he would enter the electoral fray from Trichy East under the TVK banner.

Actor opens up about family, social service, and political plans

Raghava Lawrence also spoke about the personal side of his political journey. “After all the recent controversy, my mother once again told me not to enter politics,” he revealed. However, he said his desire to serve society remains unchanged. Pointing to his social work, he said, “For more than 20 years, I have been helping people, especially persons with disabilities. I am not someone who speaks irresponsibly or hurts others intentionally.” He addressed certain misunderstandings regarding his previous statements and emphasized his dedication to public life.

Raghava Lawrence’s decision on political party is yet to be finalised

While confirming his political ambitions, Raghava Lawrence clarified that his final decision on a political party is still pending. “I have decided to enter politics, but I have not decided which party I will join. I will announce it very soon,” he said. His latest clarification has ended speculation about the Trichy East constituency, but it has also intensified curiosity about his next political move. Until he makes his official announcement, discussions about his future in politics are likely to continue among both fans. Go to Source
