As Jaafar Jackson’s ‘Michael’ neared USD 1 billion globally, the stars attended the 2026 BET Awards in style to celebrate the film’s success. While Jaafar Jackson took the stage with his co-star Nia Long, the duo celebrated the historical achievements the biopic made and thanked fans for watching it.

Jaafar Jackson and Nia Long recently attended the 2026 BET Awards ceremony in style on Sunday. While taking the stage to present the award for Best Male R&B/Pop Artist, the two took a moment to celebrate the big achievement. The duo started by thanking the fans for showing their movie a lot of love. Jackson stated, “We’re so grateful for the love you all showed to our movie. You guys had the theatres packed! We’re truly so humbled. Your support means the world to the Jackson family.”Long also took the moment to thank the world for loving her portrayal of Katherine Jackson, Michael Jackson’s mother, in the film. She said with gratitude, “Portraying Katherine Jackson reminded me that grace is quiet and still, and tonight we honour that. Jaafar, it was an honour watching you transform into your uncle right before our eyes.”

What record did ‘Michael’ break?

Variety reported recently that Michael Jackson’s biopic, ‘Michael,’ broke a major record by surpassing ‘Oppenheimer,’ grossing USD 977 million globally. The film is only a few million dollars short of reaching the USD 1 billion mark. ‘Oppenheimer’ had set a major record at the time of its release, earning USD 975 million globally. Not only that, but the film has also surpassed ‘Bohemian Rhapsody’ as the biggest-earning musical biopic.

About the ‘Michael’ biopic

Directed by Antoine Fuqua and written by three-time Oscar nominee John Logan, ‘Michael’ tells the story of Michael Jackson, his work with the family group Jackson 5, the ‘Bad’ tour and his transition into a solo career.The film features Jaafar Jackson in the lead as his uncle, Michael Jackson, while actors Colman Domingo and Nia Long played his parents, Katherine Jackson and Joe Jackson. Miles Teller played the role of his advisor and attorney, John Branca. Many other big names also starred in the film.
