As filmmaker K Bhagyaraj passed away, family, friends, and members of the film fraternity gathered to pay their last respects. Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Vijay also said he was shocked and grieved at the demise of the veteran, whom he described as one of the industry’s finest multi-talented personalities. In his condolences, Vijay praised Bhagyaraj’s outstanding journey as a director, actor, screenwriter, and dialogue writer. He said his films entertained the audience but also contained strong human values and meaningful social messages that will continue to inspire generations.

CM Vijay announces state honours for Bhagyaraj’s final journey

Hailing K Bhagyaraj’s great contribution to Tamil films, Chief Minister Vijay announced that the legendary filmmaker’s last journey would be made with all state honors. In his statement, he described Bhagyaraj’s death as an irreparable loss to the Tamil film industry and extended his heartfelt condolences to the filmmaker’s family, friends, colleagues, and countless admirers. Vijay also prayed for Bhagyaraj’s soul to rest in peace, adding that the state honour was a mark of respect for the cinematic legacy the ‘King of Screenplay’ had created over several decades.

Final rites to take place at Besant Nagar on Sunday afternoon

Bhagyaraj’s mortal remains have been kept at his Nungambakkam residence to allow members of the public, industry colleagues, and admirers to pay their final respects throughout the night. The family confirmed that the veteran filmmaker’s final rites will be held on Sunday at 1:30 pm at the Besant Nagar electric crematorium in Chennai. His death has been followed by a continuous flow of people who have come to pay their last respects to this highly acclaimed filmmaker, whose contribution to Tamil films has been greatly appreciated and respected.

Film fraternity unites to bid farewell to the ‘King of Screenplay’

Even before Bhagyaraj’s mortal remains reached his residence, several members of the Tamil film fraternity gathered to assist the grieving family. His former assistants and protégés, including actor-director Parthiban and director Pandiraj, arrived early along with Radhika Sarathkumar, Sarathkumar and actress Suhasini. They personally oversaw the arrangements for the public homage, coordinated visitor movement, and ensured everything was organised for the final farewell.The emotional act demonstrated how deeply respected and loved Bhagyaraj was in the film industry.
