Vijay Deverakonda reflects on his theatre days

Vijay Deverakonda reflects on his theatre days, says, 'I needed any opportunity to perform'

Before becoming one of the most popular stars of the Telugu industry, Vijay Deverakonda took time learning how to act in theater. Recently, the actor talked about that phase of his life and revealed how his theatrical performances enhanced his skills and made him confident. These days, Vijay Deverakonda is recognized by his screen presence and unique movies. But he says that in the beginning, he was just focused on getting chances to act and get better. According to him, theatre became the foundation that helped him grow both personally and professionally.

Vijay Deverakonda reveals why every opportunity mattered

Speaking about his mindset during those early years, Vijay Deverakonda said, “It was never about choosing what I liked or wanted. It was more about giving me any opportunity to do anything.” He explained that he was eager to learn and did not want to wait for perfect roles. “I needed any platform, any work that could help me better my craft and also let people see my talent,” he added. Vijay Deverakonda revealed that every opportunity, no matter how small, was valuable because it allowed him to gain experience and understand the art of acting better.

Theatre helped VD discover his passion

The actor also recalled being part of stage productions, including adaptations of well-known plays. According to Vijay Deverakonda, theatre offered much more than acting experience. “It helped me channel my energy in the right direction,” he shared. He believes the stage taught him discipline, patience, and the ability to perform under pressure. Theatre is different from films because actors in theatres must perform before an audience without retakes, and this makes each performance a learning process for them. Vijay Deverakonda said those years helped him understand what he truly wanted to do with his life and gave him the confidence to pursue acting seriously.

Vijay Deverakonda calls the theatre a place that frees an actor

Even today, Vijay Deverakonda speaks highly about the value of theatre for aspiring performers. “Theatre unshackles you in a way,” he said. “It frees you up.” The actor believes stage performances help actors become more expressive and fearless. Looking back, he feels those experiences prepared him for the challenges of cinema and helped shape the performer audiences see today. On the work front, Vijay Deverakonda has several exciting projects lined up, including ‘Ranabaali,’ ‘Rowdy Janardhana, ‘and his film with director Shoryuv. As he continues to move forward in his career, he remains grateful for the lessons theatre taught him at the beginning of his journey. Go to Source
