Ridley Scott is one of the most renowned directors of the past few decades. Many of his films became blockbuster hits after release. In an old interview, the star director got candid about watching OTT and how one series from David Fincher’s projects has managed to become his favourite pastime. He shared some rare insights at the time into what his watching habits are.
Ridley Scott opens up about ‘Mindhunter’ being the best series
In a 2017 conversation with Vulture, the famed director admitted he was bingeing on David Fincher’s ‘Mindhunter’. He shared during the interview that it is one of the best shows that he has watched and that he would love to do something along the lines of that as well.He added, “I’ll be there, 1 o’clock in the morning … click. It’s a bedtime story! I love the advent of Netflix and what it means to people like me. It suits me down to the ground. I’d love to do a ten-hour mini-series myself, personally. [David] Fincher’s got the best show on the air right now.”Praising the show’s creator, he quipped, “Fincher’s a bit like me, very anal, compulsive, but he’s very good, and that proves that audiences want good. They don’t want s***; they want good.”
Ridley Scott talks about being obsessed with OTT
In the same interview, the director added that he is quite obsessed with OTT platforms. He commented, “It’s like a catapult, because they just want content and lots of it. Do they care so much about the quality? Less about it, and they should keep their eye on that. But they’ve got $8 billion to spend next year, just on content. And I see a movie a night, so it’s perfect.”
