Late actor Om Puri’s first wife, writer-director and author Seema Kapoor, has opened up about the most painful chapter of her life, revealing how their marriage fell apart after another woman entered the actor’s life, how she lost her unborn child during the turmoil, and why she refused to engage in a legal battle despite encouragement from her brother, actor Annu Kapoor.Om Puri later married journalist and author Nandita Puri, while Seema says she chose silence over confrontation during the difficult period.Speaking to Hindi Rush, Seema recalled, “Jab Puri sahab se anban hui, unki taraf se unki zindagi mein koi aa gaya aur us wajah se main tab pregnant thi. Main apni mata ji ke paas Rajasthan chali gayi thi.”
‘Annu bhai wanted to fight legally’
Seema revealed that while her family wanted to take action, she was unwilling to turn the matter into a legal battle.“Saare log yeh chahte the, khaastaur se Annu bhai kyunki woh mujhe bahut pyaar karte the. Woh mujhe dukh mein nahi dekh sakte the. Isliye woh ladna chahte the, kanooni ladai ladna chahte the. Lekin main kisi tarah ki ladai nahi ladna chahti thi,” she said.Explaining her decision, she added, “Mujhe lag hi nahi raha tha ki rishta kabhi tootega. Mujhe laga agar yeh log lad liye aur inko allow kar diya to rishte ka bhavishya bhi khatam ho jayega.”
‘Mera bachcha nahi bach paya’
The author also spoke about the devastating loss of her unborn child.“Unfortunately kya hua ki bachcha mera nahi bach paya. Woh us samay mere liye bahut precious tha. Kyunki Puri sahab ab laut ke aane wale nahi the. Main zindagi mein kabhi shaadi karne wali nahi thi. To woh bachcha tha aur woh nahi hua,” she said.Seema revealed that she coped with the grief by writing letters to the child she lost.“Maine bachche ko apne khat likhe. Maine usse poocha, ‘Tum kyun nahi aaye? Kya aisi kami thi?’ Phir uski taraf se ek jawab bhi likha. Mujhe laga ki apne dukh kisi aur se baantne ke badle kalam aur paper se baantun.”
‘Nandita aa gayi aur cheezen badhti gayi’
Reflecting on how events unfolded after she moved away, Seema said, “Maa ke paas jaana fatal ho gaya. Kyunki phir Nandita aa gayi yahan pe. Aur jab aap door ho jaate hain, to jo paas hota hai, aap uski samasya zyada suljhane lagte hain.”She added, “Phir maine apna child lose kar diya. Phir divorce ke papers aa gaye. Ek ke baad ek jo jhatke aa rahe the na, main unko deal nahi kar pa rahi thi.”
‘Puri sahab wapas aaye aur maafi maangi’
Years later, according to Seema, Om Puri re-entered her life and apologised.Recalling an emotional phone call before one of his surgeries in London, she said, “Unhone kaha, ‘Mera kal operation hai. Mujhe nahi pata main bachunga ki nahi bachunga. Main tumse maafi maangna chahta hoon.’”Seema said the actor’s remorse remained with him for years.“Woh sneh hi tha unke andar. Woh unhe kachot-ta raha ki maine Seema ke saath galat kiya. Isliye woh wapas aaye,” she said.Despite the heartbreak, Seema maintained that Om Puri remained one of the most important relationships of her life.“Kuch rishte aise hote hain jo apne aap mein poorn hote hain. Mujhe kisi aur rishte mein woh gehraai nahi mili. Puri sahab mein woh baat thi ki aap unse kuch bhi share kar sakte the, bina iske ki woh aapko judge karenge,” she concluded. Go to Source
