Meet the actress who went from yoga teacher to pan-India sensation

Meet the actress who went from being yoga teacher to starring in Rs 2400 crore pan-India sensation

On International Yoga Day, Anushka Shetty’s success story is a testament to how a person’s life can turn around in unexpected circumstances. She is currently one of the most acclaimed actresses in South Indian cinema, having performed very compelling roles in popular movies. But before all the stardom and success, she lived a different phase of life. Prior to establishing herself as a popular face, she was into yoga teaching and spent her time teaching others fitness and wellness.

From a certified yoga instructor to her first film opportunity

Brought up under the name Sweety Shetty, Anushka first studied in Bengaluru and received yoga training from Bharat Thakur, the well-known yoga guru. Anushka got a yoga certification as an instructor and devoted the first few years of her life to practicing yoga with the help of her students. This was the time when acting was far from Anushka’s mind. Destiny had different plans for her. Meher Ramesh, the director, apparently spotted her during a yoga class and found her screen presence and personality very appealing. Anushka was subsequently recommended to Puri Jagannadh, the filmmaker, who chose to cast her in the 2005 Telugu movie ‘Super’.

Anushka Shetty’s rise as one of South cinema’s biggest stars

After her debut film, Anushka has consistently developed her career by delivering some amazing performances in movies like ‘Bhaagamathie’, ‘Vikramarkudu,’ and ‘Arundhati’. Anushka’s capacity to play the character of both a commercial entertainer and an acting role made her unique among other actors of her generation. But the biggest landmark in her career was getting a chance to play Devasena in the ‘Baahubali’ series directed by S.S. Rajamouli. She became famous around the world due to her excellent portrayal as a courageous queen and emerged as one of the best actresses in Indian movies.

Anushka’s journey of discipline, patience, and reinvention

What makes Anushka’s story unique is her discipline in becoming an actress from a yoga lover. Whether getting ready to put on a challenging act or deciding which project to work on, she always stuck to her own terms. She went to the extent of putting on a lot of weight to portray herself in ‘Size Zero.’ Recently, she appeared in ‘Ghati,’ and has some great projects lined up for the future. In celebrating the virtues of Yoga, such as balance, concentration, and personal growth, Anushka Shetty’s story is indeed an inspiration. Go to Source
