On the occasion of the 12th International Yoga Day, Prime Minister Narendra Modi led a massive yoga session at Kolkata’s Red Road and delivered a message promoting lifelong health through yoga. He urged people to aim for the energy and vitality of a 30-year-old even at the age of 50 by making yoga a daily habit. The Prime Minister emphasized that a healthy society is essential for building a strong state and a capable nation. He encouraged citizens to celebrate yoga not just on one day but throughout the year, making it a part of their daily routine. The event began with prayers, chanting of “Om,” and warm-up exercises (Sukshma Vyayam) designed to improve blood circulation, flexibility, and prepare the body for yoga. Yoga instructors explained the importance of neck exercises, including upward-downward movements, side bending, and twisting, which help reduce stiffness, improve mobility, and prevent strain. Thousands of participants joined the session, reflecting the growing popularity of yoga in India and across the world. The event highlighted yoga’s role in promoting physical fitness, mental well-being, and a healthier lifestyle for people of all ages.
