‘Cocktail 2’ BO Day 1: Shahid starrer earns Rs 20 cr globally

'Cocktail 2' box office collection Day 1: Shahid Kapoor, Kriti Sanon, and Rashmika Mandanna starrer kicks off with Rs 20 crore worldwide

Shahid Kapoor, Rashmika Mandanna, and Kriti Sanon’s romantic drama ‘Cocktail 2’ has hit theatres on Friday, June 19. The movie opened to mixed reactions from the audience as well as critics; however, it still managed to rake in a big debut box office score. The film is a spiritual sequel to Saif Ali Khan, Deepika Padukone, and Diana Penty’s ‘Cocktail’ (2012). Let’s take a look at how the movie has performed at the box office.

‘Cocktail 2’ box office collection Day 1

According to the Sacnilk report, the Homi Adajania directorial was screened across 10,835 shows in India. The movie raked in Rs 13.50 crore net on Day 1 at the box office. With that, the total India net collection of the film is now Rs 13.50 crore, while the total India gross collection stands at Rs 16.20 crore.Overseas, the Shahid Kapoor starrer has minted a total of Rs 4.00 crore in gross collections, pushing its total worldwide gross collection to Rs 20.20 crore.The overall occupancy of the movie has been reported to be 24.57% on Day 1.While the weekend is likely to drive higher collections, Monday’s performance of the movie will be the key indicator of its long-term box office strength. Moreover, with no major Bollywood releases hitting theatres this week, the Rashmika and Kriti starrer is expected to benefit from minimal competition.

Directed by Homi Adajania, the film stars Shahid Kapoor, Kriti Sanon, and Rashmika Mandanna in the lead roles. It also features Tiku Talsania and a cameo by Pulkit Samrat.The film’s IMDb synopsis reads, “After a decade together, Diya and Kunal’s relationship is shaken when Ally, an old friend, re-enters their lives. What begins as a plan between two women spirals into chaos, triggering a hilarious emotional rollercoaster none of them saw coming.”
