Police said the moving truck’s driver appeared to have dozed off, lost control of the vehicle, and crashed into the stationary truck.

The impact was severe, with an iron angle from the moving truck piercing into the cabin, killing both the driver and cleaner instantly.

Rescue teams extricated the bodies and sent them to Shahapur Sub-District Hospital for post-mortem examination, said officials.

Police carried out a spot inspection and registered a case.

The collision led to a brief traffic jam on the highway, which was later cleared, they added.

Shahapur police are investigating the case, with drowsy driving suspected to be the cause of the crash.
