BMW Group India on Wednesday launched the new MINI Countryman C in India, expanding its locally assembled portfolio as automakers deepen localisation in the premium segment.

The petrol-powered sport utility vehicle will be manufactured at the company’s Chennai plant, marking the latest addition to MINI’s India lineup under local production.

The model is priced at ₹47.5 lakh ($57,000) ex-showroom and is available in a single trim, with deliveries beginning immediately, the company said.

The Countryman C is powered by a 1.5-litre turbocharged petrol engine producing 156 horsepower and 240 Nm of torque, paired with a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission.

It features a digital interface, including a circular OLED touchscreen, and offers driver assistance systems such as cruise control and parking assistance.

The vehicle has a boot capacity of 505 litres, expandable to 1,450 litres, and has received a five-star safety rating from Euro NCAP.

BMW Group India said the model will be offered with financing options and service packages, as competition intensifies among luxury automakers in the fast-growing Indian market.
