The initial deliveries included 13 customers in Delhi.Maruti Suzuki India on Wednesday commenced deliveries of its WagonR Flex-Fuel vehicle, with members of the Indian Sugar & Bio-energy Manufacturers Association (ISMA) becoming among the first customers to receive the model in the national capital.
The WagonR Flex-Fuel is India’s first passenger vehicle designed to operate on ethanol-petrol blends ranging from E20 to E100, marking a significant milestone in the country’s efforts to diversify transportation fuels and reduce dependence on imported crude oil.
The initial deliveries included 13 customers in Delhi.
The government has significantly increased ethanol blending in petrol over the past decade and is promoting flex-fuel technologies that can utilise higher ethanol blends. Flex-fuel vehicles can operate on varying ethanol concentrations, providing consumers with greater fuel flexibility while supporting domestic biofuel production.
The WagonR Flex-Fuel forms part of Maruti Suzuki’s broader multi-pathway strategy towards cleaner mobility, alongside compressed natural gas (CNG), hybrid and electric vehicle technologies.
