Iran-US Talks: First phase of negotiations concludes with digitally signed MoU

Amid ongoing diplomatic developments between Iran and the United States, reports indicate that the first phase of negotiations has been completed, with both sides digitally signing a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU). At the same time, Iran has taken a firm stance on one of the world’s most strategically important maritime trade routes—the Strait of Hormuz. Iranian Vice President Mohammad Reza Aref issued a strong statement asserting that the Strait of Hormuz is Iran’s property and will remain under Tehran’s control permanently. His remarks underline Iran’s determination to maintain authority over the crucial waterway, through which a significant share of global oil and commercial shipping passes. The statement comes at a time when regional and international attention remains focused on security and stability in the Gulf. While diplomatic engagement between Tehran and Washington appears to be progressing, Iran’s renewed claim over the Strait of Hormuz highlights the strategic importance of the region and its potential impact on global trade and energy markets.
