Sleeping Man in Karnataka Escapes Strangulation Attempt by Wife and Her Lover

Vijayapura district in Karnataka was shaken by a disturbing case from Indi town, where a woman allegedly tried to kill her husband with the help of her lover. The shocking incident, which took place in Akkamahadevi Nagar on September 1, 2025, came to light only later. The husband, Beerappa Mayappa Pujari, narrowly escaped death, while his wife Sunanda has since been taken into custody.

The Plot Against the Husband

Recommended Stories

Beerappa, 36, lived in a rented house with his wife Sunanda and their two children. It is alleged that Sunanda was in a relationship with Siddappa Kyatakery and wanted to continue her affair without obstacles.

According to the police, this led to a deadly plan to eliminate her husband. Together with Siddappa and another accomplice, Sunanda allegedly plotted the attack.

On the night of the incident, Beerappa was asleep when the attack began. Sunanda is said to have sat on his chest and attempted to strangle him, targeting both his neck and private parts.

Witness accounts suggest she even called out to her lover, urging him to “finish him off.” At that moment, Beerappa woke and in desperation kicked a cooler, creating a loud crash.

The sound alerted the landlord, who rushed to knock on the door. Meanwhile, the couple’s 8-year-old son awoke and opened the door. Sensing trouble, Siddappa and his accomplice fled the house immediately, leaving behind a scene of chaos.

The Lover’s Twist

In an unexpected turn, Siddappa himself later released a video on social media, claiming that Sunanda had dragged him into the matter. The video allegedly recorded parts of the incident and captured Sunanda’s words during the assault.

This clip became critical evidence, helping police piece together what had unfolded inside the house. Based on the video and the husband’s complaint, the Indi police arrested Sunanda and launched a search for Siddappa, who has gone absconding.

A special team has been formed to trace him. Authorities have confirmed that they are treating the case with urgency, given its shocking nature and the involvement of both family members and an alleged extramarital affair.

Condition of the Victim

Beerappa, who sustained injuries in the attack, was admitted to a private hospital in Indi. Doctors have stated that his condition is stable, though he remains under observation. His family, particularly his two young children, have been deeply shaken by the ordeal.

The case has sparked anxiety in the locality, with residents expressing disbelief at how a domestic dispute could escalate to attempted murder. Police officials have reiterated the seriousness of the crime and assured that swift legal action will follow. As the investigation continues, the community awaits justice and closure in a case that has revealed the darker side of betrayal and marital discord.
