When Ajith Kumar opened up about his mother Mohini Mani’s Sindhi roots

When Ajith Kumar opened up about his mother Mohini Mani’s Sindhi roots and his struggle with speaking Tamil: 'I had an accent'

Following the demise of his mother Mohini, fans have been revisiting some of the rare occasions when Ajith Kumar spoke about his family in public. Known for keeping his personal life away from the spotlight, Ajith has rarely discussed his parents during interviews. Unlike many celebrities who frequently share family stories, the actor has always preferred to maintain privacy. This is one of the reasons why his old comments about his mother and father have resurfaced and are now being widely shared among fans and well-wishers mourning the loss of Mohini.

Ajith once spoke about his mother’s background and upbringing

In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter India, Ajith opened up about his family roots and childhood. Ajith informed that his father, P. Subramaniam, comes from a Tamilian family, and his mother Mohini belongs to the Sindhi community. It is for this reason that Ajith informed that he never spoke fluently in Tamil due to the mixed background of his family. According to him, he initially faced difficulties speaking in Tamil and even had an accent when he joined the Tamil movie industry. But through hard work, he managed to perfect Tamil, and now he is one of the best actors in the Tamil movie industry.

Parents encouraged Ajith’s passion for motor racing

Ajith also fondly remembered how his parents supported his dream of becoming a motor racer. In an interview with Mathrubhumi English, the actor recalled that motor racing was an expensive sport and his family did not have the financial means to fund it completely. Nonetheless, he said that his father had made it abundantly clear that although they may not be able to give him financial support, nothing was going to come in between him and what he wanted to do. It was a way of highlighting the encouraging and nurturing environment that he had been provided as he grew up, enabling him to chase his dreams without hesitation.

Ajith’s heartfelt memory that fans will never forget

These old reflections have taken on a profound new meaning as the film fraternity and millions of fans pour in their condolences for Mohini Mani. Though Ajith is fiercely protective of his private life, his rare public commentary about his parents has always been anchored in deep gratitude, respect, and unconditional love. Go to Source
