‘Main Vaapas Aaunga’ First Review: Ektaa Kapoor hails Diljit, Vedang’s epic

'Main Vaapas Aaunga' First Review: Ektaa Kapoor hails Diljit Dosanjh, Vedang Raina's epic, says 'You have no idea what's coming'

Ektaa Kapoor shared her first review of the upcoming film ‘Main Vaapas Aaunga’, starring Vedang Raina, Sharvari, Diljit Dosanjh and Naseeruddin Shah. The film is scheduled to arrive in theatres on June 12, 2026. After watching the movie ahead of its release, Ektaa admitted that the experience stayed with her for a long time and that she struggled to find the right words to describe it. Taking to Instagram on Sunday, she wrote, “All I want to say is: you have no idea what’s coming next!”

‘Main Vaapas Aaunga’: A love story set against the partition era

Describing the film’s emotional depth, Ektaa explained that ‘Main Vaapas Aaunga’ explores love through the backdrop of Partition while showing how emotions remain timeless despite changing generations.“This movie is called Main Vaapas Aaunga, a love story set against the backdrop of the Partition. A film that beautifully shows how generations may think differently, live differently, and love differently… yet somehow it all leads back to the same thing: you have to fall in love! It’s emotional, timeless, and stays with you long after it ends,” she shared.According to Ekta Kapoor, the movie creates a deep sense of nostalgia and reminds viewers of unfinished relationships and emotions left unresolved over time. She further added that the story captures a kind of love that existed before modern technology changed communication. Ektaa described it as the pain of longing and waiting, where emotions carried more weight than instant replies or digital connections.

Vedang Raina leaves Ektaa Kapoor impressed

While praising the ensemble cast, Ektaa particularly highlighted Vedang Raina’s performance, calling him the surprise element of the film. The actor, who earlier appeared in ‘The Archies’, received glowing praise from the producer. Ektaa called his role an “outstanding breakout performance” and mentioned that she had noticed his charm even during his debut appearance in ‘The Archies’.She also appreciated Diljit Dosanjh for delivering a restrained and emotionally layered performance. According to her, the actor conveys much of his character’s conflict and vulnerability through his expressions and eyes rather than dialogue.

Ektaa Kapoor’s praise for Sharvari and Naseeruddin Shah

Talking about Sharvari, known for films like ‘Munjya’ and ‘Maharaj’, Ektaa wrote, “@sharvari is absolutely beautiful on screen. Her eyes express every emotion with so much grace and honesty. She has such a strong presence, and she’s definitely someone we’ll look forward to seeing in many more films.”The producer also showered praise on veteran actor Naseeruddin Shah, celebrated for classics like ‘Masoom’, ‘A Wednesday!’ and ‘Iqbal’.“@naseeruddin49 is simply an icon. Any words used to describe how good he is would honestly feel inadequate, because nothing truly does justice to the kind of actor he is,” she added.

‘Main Vaapas Aaunga’ release date

‘Main Vaapas Aaunga’ has been produced by Birla Studios and Applause Entertainment in collaboration with Mohit Choudhary and Shibasish Sarkar’s Window Seat Films. The film is slated for a theatrical release on June 12, 2026, while the music rights are with Tips Music. Go to Source
