Meenakshi Seshadri moves to Mumbai, announces acting comeback after 30 years: 'Looking forward to meaningful opportunities'

Veteran actress Meenakshi Seshadri has expressed her desire to return to acting in a serious way after spending decades away from the Hindi film industry. Once among the most popular stars of the 1980s and 1990s, the actress recently shared a heartfelt message with fans, revealing that she is actively looking for new opportunities in films and OTT projects. Through a video posted on social media, Meenakshi spoke about the next phase of her career. She thanked her supporters for standing by her throughout the years and said their encouragement continues to motivate her. Addressing her followers, she said, “A warm Namaste to my growing family of Instagram followers. Today I want to sincerely thank each one of you for your love, encouragement and constant support.”

The actress also revealed that she has shifted back to Mumbai after spending nearly three decades in the United States. According to Meenakshi, returning to her professional home has given her a renewed sense of optimism as she prepares to re-enter the entertainment industry. Sharing details about her move, she said, “After 30 long years, I have relocated back to my Karmabhoomi, Mumbai, India and have stepped once again into the entertainment industry with hope, passion and positivity.”

Meenakshi Seshadri looking for impactful roles across platforms

Meenakshi made it clear that she is not limiting herself to a specific format or type of role. Instead, she is interested in characters that offer substance and allow her to showcase her abilities as a performer. Speaking about the projects she hopes to take up, the actress said, “I’m really looking forward to meaningful opportunities, whether it’s a lead role, supporting character or even a short show. And it doesn’t matter as long as it’s an impactful performance. It could be films or OTT shows.” She also explained that her focus is on artistic growth rather than fame. For Meenakshi, the opportunity to challenge herself creatively is more important than the size of the role. Reflecting on her goals, she stated, “I want to explore roles that challenge me as an artist and help me discover new dimensions of my craft.”

Actress opens up about recent offers

The actress also spoke candidly about the offers she has received since returning to India. While opportunities have come her way, she revealed that many were either not exciting enough or failed to progress further. Sharing her experience, Meenakshi said, “You know, many offers did come my way, but some weren’t exciting enough and some simply didn’t materialise. But I’m managing this journey on my own, without any agency. And your support means everything to me during this phase.”She added that although India is now her primary base, she still spends time in the United States with her family whenever possible. Meenakshi emphasised that her return to acting is driven by personal happiness rather than any desire to prove a point. She said the encouragement of her family and fans has given her the confidence to begin this new chapter. Expressing her feelings, she said, “Look, my dear, dear friends, I’m not here to prove any point. I’m just here with the love, encouragement of my family. I’m simply doing what truly makes me happy.” The actress concluded her message with a special request to her supporters, saying, “And to all my dear fans, I request you to continue supporting me, sharing your feedback and spreading the word. Because your faith and your blessings inspire me every single day. Thank you.”Alongside the video, Meenakshi revealed that she was in Boston celebrating her son’s graduation from Harvard University. She also shared that she is actively seeking new opportunities in the entertainment industry and hopes that the goodwill and blessings of her fans will help her find the right project as she embarks on this long-awaited comeback journey.
