The accused has been identified as Abhinav Tyagi, a resident of Uttar Pradesh’s Moradabad, currently living in the Bisrakh area of Greater Noida. He was arrested on Saturday by police on Saturday.

“On Saturday, the Cyber Police, Noida, arrested Abhinav Tyagi. He had prepared fake invoices amounting to about Rs 10 crore to claim GST of Rs 1.8 crore,” Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police (Central Noida) Shavya Goyal told PTI.

According to the officials, Tyagi, who worked at the accounts section of the company and handled filings on Goods and Services Tax (GST) and tax-return portals, carried out the fraud with an accomplice.

The police have also recovered four mobile phones, eight SIM cards, a laptop, a car, GST-related documents and a rent agreement from the accused.

An official complaint has been filed under sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and the Information Technology Act, police said.

While Tyagi is currently lodged in jail after being produced in court, the police are trying to nab his accomplice.
