New Delhi: Honda Cars India on Friday launched the new facelifted Honda City sedan and marked the India debut of its global hybrid SUV, the ZR-V e:HEV, as the Japanese carmaker outlined an aggressive product-led growth strategy for the Indian market.

The company said the launch signals the start of a “new phase of accelerated growth” in India, with plans for six strategic launches this fiscal.

“Today’s event marks the beginning of HCIL’s new phase of accelerated growth in the market. India is among the top three focus markets to realise Honda’s future growth, which will be driven by a strong pipeline of new products and our efforts to achieve cost competitiveness,” said Takashi Nakajima, President & CEO, Honda Cars India.

City gets design, feature upgrades

The Honda City has been launched at ₹11.99 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi) for the petrol manual variant and goes up to ₹20.99 lakh for the hybrid version.

The new City comes with refreshed styling, new technology features and both petrol and strong hybrid powertrain options.
Honda said the sedan adopts a sharper front fascia with a new LED lighting signature, a redesigned grille, and an aerodynamic bumper, while the rear gets updated Z-edge wraparound LED tail lamps and a sporty trunk lip spoiler.

The cabin features a 10.1-inch floating touchscreen infotainment system with wireless smartphone connectivity, ventilated front seats, USB-C charging ports and a 360-degree multi-view camera.

The sedan continues to offer Honda SENSING ADAS features, including collision mitigation braking, lane-keep assist, and adaptive cruise control, in the e:HEV variant.

The new City will be offered with a 1.5-litre petrol engine paired with either a 6-speed manual or CVT transmission, along with Honda’s two-motor strong hybrid e:HEV system.

The hybrid variant delivers 126 PS combined power and a fuel efficiency of 27.26 km/l, while the petrol variants offer up to 17.97 km/l.

Honda’s new flagship SUV in India

Honda also showcased the ZR-V e:HEV, which will become the company’s flagship SUV in India. Imported as a Completely Built Unit (CBU) from Japan, the ZR-V e:HEV becomes Honda’s new flagship SUV in India. Customer bookings have opened across Honda dealerships, with deliveries scheduled to begin from July 2026. Powered by Honda’s 2.0-litre e:HEV strong hybrid system paired with a dual-motor setup and e-CVT, the ZR-V delivers a combined output of 184 PS and 315 Nm of torque.

The SUV claims a fuel efficiency of 22.79 km/l and can seamlessly switch between electric, hybrid, and engine-drive modes.

The company said the ZR-V has already achieved cumulative global sales of over 800,000 units since 2022.

Takashi Nakajima, President & CEO, Honda Cars India Ltd, said, “Today’s event marks the beginning of HCIL’s new phase of accelerated growth in the market. India is among the top three focus markets to realise Honda’s future growth, which will be driven by a strong pipeline of new products and our efforts to achieve cost competitiveness.”

Honda said the ZR-V has been developed under the “Brilliant Liberation” concept, combining sporty styling, premium interiors and engaging driving dynamics. The SUV features full LED lighting, 18-inch alloy wheels, a panoramic premium cabin, a Bose 12-speaker audio system, dual-zone climate control, power-adjustable seats, and connected infotainment with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.

On the safety front, the ZR-V comes equipped with Honda SENSING ADAS technologies, including Collision Mitigation Braking System, Adaptive Cruise Control, Lane Keeping Assist and Road Departure Mitigation. Other features include eight airbags, a 360-degree camera, hill descent control, and vehicle stability assist.

The hybrid SUV will be available in four exterior colours — Twilight Mist Black Pearl, Meteoroid Grey Metallic, Platinum White Pearl, and Crystal Black Pearl.
