Alisha Chinai shares RARE photo and personal letter from Rajiv Gandhi; Calls it an ‘Epic moment’

Singer Alisha Chinai recently revisited a memorable moment from the late 1980s by posting a rare photograph with former Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi along with a personal letter she had received from him. The vintage picture featured a young Alisha Chinai standing beside Rajiv Gandhi during what appeared to be an official interaction. In the image, the singer was seen sporting curly hair while Rajiv Gandhi appeared in a classic white kurta-pyjama outfit. The singer described the moment as an “epic moment” from a “golden era” while sharing the images on social media.

Personal letter from 1989 goes viral

Alongside the photograph, Alisha also uploaded an image of a handwritten letter sent to her by Rajiv Gandhi in 1989. The note was written on official Prime Minister letterhead and carried the date May 27, 1989.In the letter, Rajiv Gandhi thanked the singer for gifting him a compact disc featuring Hindi pop songs. He also mentioned that he had enjoyed listening to the music shared by her. He wrote, “Dear Ms. Chinoy, Thank you for your letter of the 25th April. I too was delighted to make your acquaintance. Thank you for letting me have your compact disc of Hindi pop songs. I have greatly enjoyed listening to it. Thank you too for your English song Prize Possession. I am glad you have got involved with the proposed Saturday youth programme. I look forward to the results of your efforts. Yours sincerely,” The note was signed “Rajiv Gandhi” and marked from New Delhi.

Alisha Chinai calls it an ‘Epic moment’

Sharing the images online, Alisha Chinai expressed her emotional connection to the memory and described the period as unforgettable.She captioned the post, “Epic Moment and a Rare Pic with Then PM Shri Rajiv Gandhi !!! That was a Golden Era … I Will always Treasure that Personable Heartfelt Letter @rahulgandhi”Several users flooded the comments section with nostalgic reactions after the images surfaced online. Many called the photograph a priceless memory from a different era of Indian entertainment and public life.
