'My face literally shook': Boman Irani gets emotional recalling his heartwarming meeting with Dharmendra

Boman Irani has welcomed Dharmendra and Satish Shah receiving Padma awards, saying he was surprised it took so long. He emotionally recalled Dharmendra placing his hand on his face with affection, saying “my face literally shook.” Boman also remembered Satish Shah fondly and will next be seen in ‘Peddi’ on June 4.

Boman Irani has expressed his happiness over Dharmendra and Satish Shah being awarded Padma awards, but also admitted that he was surprised it had taken so long for both legends to receive such recognition. In a recent chat, Boman spoke lovingly about the two veterans, sharing fond memories and talking about how warm, humble, and special they both are as people.

Boman Irani recalls Dharmendra’s kindness and charm

Speaking about Dharmendra to IANS, Boman recalled, “Dharamji was the most loving person I have ever met, apart from being the handsomest, and the most charming. There was kindness in his voice, there was love in his voice, and whenever he met you, he made you feel special, like your presence made him happy.”

The actor also looked back on a moment with Dharmendra that has clearly stayed with him over the years. “I will never forget how he shook my hand and then placed his hand on my face with affection. It was just a small gesture, but my face literally shook. It was so emotional. That love and kindness are unforgettable,” he said, his words painting a vivid picture of just how deeply the encounter had moved him. Turning to Satish Shah, Boman’s voice was filled with equal amounts of love and longing as he said, “Satish was always laughing, always smiling. We miss him.”

Dharmendra has given audiences some of the most beloved films of all time, including ‘Sholay’, ‘Chupke Chupke’, ‘Satyakam’, and ‘Yaadon Ki Baaraat’, with a filmography that continues to be celebrated to this day.

Satish Shah, on the other hand, has long been regarded as one of the most beloved comic actors in Indian entertainment. Whether it was his memorable work in films like ‘Jaane Bhi Do Yaaro’, ‘Kabhi Haan Kabhi Naa’, and ‘Main Hoon Na’, or his iconic role in the television sitcom ‘Sarabhai vs Sarabhai’, Satish Shah always managed to leave audiences in splits with his impeccable comic timing and remarkable versatility.
