Samajwadi Party MP Professor Ram Gopal Yadav has attacked the BJP over the ongoing controversy surrounding the alleged use of pellet guns during the student protest. Reacting ahead of the Supreme Court hearing on the matter, Yadav accused the BJP of following a “double standard” on issues related to police firing and administrative decisions. He referred to the BJP’s past criticism of former Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Mulayam Singh Yadav over the firing incident in Ayodhya involving kar sevaks, and compared it with the government’s current argument that decisions regarding firing are administrative matters and not taken by ministers. Yadav questioned why responsibility was attributed to a political leader in one case but shifted to administration in another. The pellet gun controversy has become a major political flashpoint, with opposition parties accusing the government of excessive use of force against protesters, while the government has denied allegations of firing on students. The issue is now also being examined by the Supreme Court.
