They Call Him OG outpaces Pushpa 2 in USA advance sales

Pawan Kalyan’s 'They Call Him OG' outpaces Allu Arjun’s 'Pushpa 2' in USA advance sales

Pawan Kalyan’s They Call Him OG is creating waves in North America, surpassing Allu Arjun’s Pushpa 2 in advance bookings. The action drama has already grossed USD 1 million, becoming the fastest Indian film to reach this milestone. While OG’s early success is notable, it faces a high break-even point due to distribution rights sold earlier.

The North American box office is witnessing an electrifying face-off between some of the biggest names in Telugu cinema. With just 19 days to go for release, Pawan Kalyan’s highly-anticipated action drama They Call Him OG directed by Sujeeth and featuring Emraan Hashmi as the antagonist has pulled off a spectacular feat, racing past Allu Arjun’s Pushpa 2: The Rule in advance bookings.According to the latest pre-sales data, OG has stormed ahead with USD 1 million collection selling more than 34 ,000 tickets from more than 400 locations in the USA alone. And with this it has become the fastest Indian film to cross USD 1 million mark in the circuit. In comparison Allu Arjun Pushpa 2- The Rule had earned about USD 835,000 when it was 19 days away from its releases having sold 30,000 tickets from 832 locations. The film went on to earn USD 11 million from the USA alone while the entire North America circuit stood at USD 15.26 million. Despite being spread across almost double the number of locations of OG, the sequel trailed behind. They Call Him OG also went past numbers of Jr NTR’s Devara: Part 1 which had collected USD 640,000 when it was 19 days away from its release date last year. The film earned USD 5.37 million from the USA while total North America collection stood at USD 6.07 million. But the journey ahead for Pawan Kalyan starrer is not going to be easy as the film has been in the making for a couple of years and its distribution rights were sold back then and after adding interest rate, the break even point has reached almost USD 5 million mark. With USD 1 million done just for its premiere shows , it is expected to cross at least USD 2 million mark before the shows start to roll out. And if the buzz for the film stands true, USD 5 million won’t be difficult to breach.
