The parts of Delhi and its adjoining areas of the National Capital Region (NCR) continued to remain flooded as the Yamuna’s rising water levels, following incessant rainfall over the past few days, submerged roads, farms, and low-lying areas.

Visuals shared by news agencies ANI and PTI showed flooded areas around the Yamuna, as floodwater entered the residential areas.

The Yamuna River at Delhi’s Signature Bridge flowed above the danger level at 7 am on Friday after incessant rainfall. The warning mark for the Yamuna in Delhi is 204.5 metres, while the danger mark is 205.33 metres.

The water level in the Yamuna river at Delhi’s Old Railway Bridge stood at 207.31 metres at 8 am on Friday, a day after reaching the season’s highest at 207.48 metres. According to official data, the level stood at 207.35 metres at 6 am and receded to 207.33 metres at 7 am. The water is likely to recede further during the day, officials said.

Due to the flood situation, Northern Railway (NR) has regulated the operations of over 60 trains due to the suspension of train traffic at Old Delhi Yamuna bridge over Delhi Division.

Monastery Market in Delhi’s Civil Lines area continues to remain flooded due to the overflowing Yamuna River entering parts of the city. City’s Nigam Bodh Ghat was also waterlogged.

Yamuna Bazaar, Vasudev Ghat and nearby residential areas were also inundated.

Meanwhile, four teams of the National Disaster Relief Force (NDRF) have been deployed in the Kalindi Kunj area as parts of the locality were flooded.

Regions surrounding the national capital, including Noida, Ghaziabad, and Gurugram, continued to struggle with waterlogging and signs of possible flooding.

Several areas of Noida, including Sector 125, 135, 151, were also inundated. Additionally, at least 55 families were rescued from a flood-affected village in Ghaziabad district of Uttar Pradesh as water from the Hathnikund barrage in Haryana caused the Yamuna river to swell.

Authorities have shifted people from low-lying areas near the water bodies to safer locations as a precaution against a possible flood emergency. Officials said that machines have been installed at various locations to pump out the water that entered the area.
