Nora Fatehi appears before NCW for ‘Sarke Chunar’ row, apologises

After Sanjay Dutt, Nora Fatehi appears before NCW for 'Sarke Chunar' row, submits written apology

Actor Nora Fatehi appeared before the National Commission for Women in connection with the controversy surrounding the song Sarke Chunar from the film KD: The Devil. Summoned by the Commission over the matter, the actor submitted a written apology during her appearance.Addressing the issue, Fatehi said, “I have submitted my apology to the Commission. It was not my intention to offend anybody. I have to be responsible as an artist. I have decided to sponsor the education for a few orphan girls.”Her appearance before the Commission comes days after actor Sanjay Dutt attended a hearing on April 27 in the same case. During the proceedings, Dutt apologised to the Commission and pledged to sponsor the education of 50 tribal girl children as part of an initiative supporting social welfare and women’s empowerment. The controversy erupted over the song Sarke Chunar Teri Sarke from KD: The Devil, which faced criticism for its allegedly objectionable lyrics and choreography. The matter eventually reached Parliament after the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting stated that the song had been banned. Amid the backlash, the makers later took down the Hindi version from YouTube. As per submissions presented during Dutt’s hearing, the actor maintained that he had no involvement in the song’s lyrics, translation, composition, or final presentation, stating that his participation was limited to performing as an actor under contractual commitments. Accompanied by his legal team led by Advocate Hemant Shah, Dutt also told the Commission that he deeply respected women’s dignity and social values.
