‘Wicked’ gets streaming date with bonus sing-along cut

‘Wicked,’ the massively successful 2024 musical featuring Jonathan Bailey, Cynthia Erivo, and Ariana Grande, is heading to streaming later this month. The film, which grossed over USD 758.8 million globally and earned 10 Oscar nominations including Best Picture, will be accompanied by a Sing-Along version for fans who want the full experience.According to the streamer’s schedule, ‘Wicked’ will become available to stream starting Thursday, May 21, 2026. The film is based on the iconic Broadway show of the same name, which itself drew inspiration from Gregory Maguire’s 1995 novel ‘Wicked: The Life and Times of the Wicked Witch of the West’, which in turn was inspired by L. Frank Baum’s beloved 1900 novel ‘The Wonderful Wizard of Oz’.

What is ‘Wicked’ about?

The story follows Elphaba, a green-skinned young woman who enrols at Shiz University, where she meets Glinda. Despite a rocky start, the two eventually become close friends. Meanwhile, Elphaba’s powerful magic draws the attention of the Wizard of Oz, and she travels to the Emerald City with Glinda. However, following a shocking revelation about the wizard, the two friends find themselves on very different paths.

The cast and crew behind ‘Wicked’

Directed by Jon M. Chu with a screenplay by Winnie Holzman and Dana Fox, the film features a remarkable ensemble cast. Cynthia Erivo leads as Elphaba, Ariana Grande plays Glinda, and Jonathan Bailey takes on the role of Fiyero. The cast is rounded out by Ethan Slater as Boq, Michelle Yeoh as Madame Morrible, and Jeff Goldblum as Oz.
