Bhavanisagar election results 2026: VP Tamilselvi of TVK beats AIADMK's A Bannari with margin of 5,469 votes

Bhavanisagar Assembly constituency is located in Erode district of Tamil Nadu and is reserved for candidates belonging to the Scheduled Caste category. In 2026 assembly polls, VP Tamilselvi emerged as the winner, with 72,391 votes, beating A Bannari of AIADMK with a margin of 4,569 votes. Bannari stood second in the contest with 67,822 votes while CPI’s PL Sundaram secured 63,107 votes. The constituency forms part of the Nilgiris Lok Sabha constituency and represents a largely agrarian belt in the Kongu region. Elections here have seen contests involving the All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (AIADMK), the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK), and the Communist Party of India (CPI), reflecting varied political influences in the constituency.

Election Results 2026

In the 2016 Assembly elections, the constituency had 2,39,778 electors, with 1,96,551 valid votes polled. AIADMK candidate S Eswaran secured victory with 83,006 votes, defeating DMK candidate R Sathya, who polled 69,902 votes. The margin of victory stood at 13,104 votes, giving the AIADMK a clear win in the constituency.Earlier, in the 2011 Assembly elections, Bhavanisagar had 1,99,502 electors, with 1,63,511 valid votes recorded. Communist Party of India (CPI) candidate P L Sundaram won the seat with 82,890 votes, defeating DMK candidate R Logeswari, who secured 63,487 votes. The winning margin stood at 19,403 votes, reflecting the influence of Left parties in the constituency during that election cycle.Historically, the seat has alternated between different parties. DMK candidate O Subramaniam won the constituency in 2006, while AIADMK’s P Chithambaram secured victory in 2001, indicating that Bhavanisagar has experienced shifting voter preferences shaped by alliance dynamics and broader political trends in Tamil Nadu.
