Liverpool reportedly planning a final push for Isak which could finally see the Newcastle forward arrive at Anfield

With the summer transfer window about to end, Liverpool are reportedly looking to submit a final bid for Alexander Isak, which could end his transfer saga. The transfer window will close on Monday, September 1.

As the transfer deadline has almost reached the shore, the exhausting Alexander Isak saga is seemingly about to end. According to fresh reports surfacing, Liverpool are preparing a British record bid worth over £130 million for the Newcastle United striker.

While Newcastle have already rejected a whopping £110m bid from Liverpool for the player early on, the club may accept the next offer from the Reds as they have recently signed Stuttgart forward Nick Woltemade for £69m.

Liverpool reportedly planning final push for Isak

It was earlier reported that the Magpies were not letting Isak leave, as they did not have a player of the same rank in the team. However, with the arrival of Woltemade, for which the club paid its highest-ever fee for a player, the situation has seemingly changed.

As for Isak, he has remained unmoved in his stance about wanting to leave St. James’ Park for Anfield. What started as a genuine request from the player escalated into an explosive turn of events, which even saw the Swede not joining the team during the pre-season, training alone at a different facility away from the squad and releasing a long statement on social media, reiterating his desire to leave the club.

While Transfer Insider has reported that no deal has taken place between Liverpool and Newcastle for the player yet, Liverpool’s reported final push for the player could pave the way for Isak’s transfer.

Liverpool manager Arne Slot recently paid heed to Newcastle signing a new forward, but did not give too much away regarding where Liverpool stand on the pursuit of Isak.

“Newcastle have signed a new No.9 which is very nice for Eddie,” Slot said, as quoted by the Express. Newcastle, if it’s true, and I have no reason to not believe what you are saying, are about to sign a new No. 9.

“That’s very nice for Eddie as Anthony Gordon is suspended and Alexander Isak has not been training with the team, so it’s nice to have a new No 9. I think I said after Monday, I could make a sub to impact the game. As always we try to sign players to help us but there are no reasons to think after two games we need more. We will always try to strengthen if it’s the right player at the right price.”

“There are only a few days left (of the transfer window being open), so let’s see. There are only three or four days to go now, so let’s see if we do something.”

If Liverpool land Isak, then it will unquestionably be the biggest signing of the summer, one that will put the defending champions into prime contention for the Premier League trophy.
