Priyanka Gandhi called the developments around the Women’s Reservation Bill a “victory of democracy” and claimed that the opposition successfully defeated what she described as a government attempt to weaken the federal structure and manipulate constitutional processes. She alleged that the bill was linked to a larger political strategy involving delimitation and long-term control of power, rather than genuine women’s empowerment. She argued that the government tried to create confusion by presenting the bill in a rushed manner and linking it to other constitutional changes. According to her, the opposition united to expose these intentions and ensured the bill did not pass under controversial circumstances. Priyanka Gandhi emphasized that the opposition fully supports women’s reservation, but demands immediate implementation of the 2023 version of the bill without political conditions or delays. She rejected claims that the opposition is “anti-women,” pointing to past incidents affecting women’s safety as evidence against such accusations. She also stated that the Indian public is politically aware and will not be influenced by propaganda or media campaigns. The opposition, she said, will continue to present its stand across the country and counter the ruling party’s narrative through a united alliance approach.
