Man United dressing room questions Amorim’s tactics as manager gets ready for showdown talks: Report

The defeat to Grimsby Town has made some in the Manchester United dressing question manager Ruben Amorim’s tactics, a report has claimed. While other media houses state that the Portuguese is set for some serious talks with the club.

Ruben Amorim is on the brink of leaving Manchester United if major media reports in England are to be believed. The 40-year-old Portuguese has been handed the toughest footballing job in the world, to revive the fortunes of an ailing Man United, who have not won the Premier League since 2013.

The Jim Ratcliffe-led INEOS Group, which runs the football operations at United, has shown great patience with Amorim, but the recent shock defeat to League Two club Grimsby Town in the League Cup and Amorim’s post-match comments about the need for “something has to change” at the club have raised speculation that the tactician might be willing to walk away.

STORY CONTINUES BELOW THIS AD

Amid all the rumours, ESPN has reported that Amorim will coach Manchester United during their Saturday Premier League match against Burnley. However, he is set to have some serious talks with the United board post the Burnley game.

Man United dressing room unhappy with Amorim?

As per the Daily Telegraph and the Daily Mirror, Amorim is set to have a meeting with the United hierarchy over his future and the poor start to the new season. In the Premier League, United lost their opening game against Arsenal and drew the second fixture vs Fulham.

Mirror stated that the Burnley game is a must-win clash for Amorim, suggesting that a defeat on Saturday could lead to his sacking. Meanwhile, the Guardian has reported that some in the Manchester United dressing room are not happy with Amorim’s tactics.

The report further added that there’s a feeling at the club that Amorim is ready to resign if he fails to pick up some good results in the near future.

INEOS still supports Amorim?

The Times is the only England media house that says that Amorim still retains the faith of the board, who are willing to stick with him despite a shambolic loss to Grimsby.

Meanwhile, as we reported earlier, United have also, on the sidelines, started to build a shortlist of possible replacements for Amorim and it is led by two Premier League managers. Crystal Palace tactician Oliver Glasner or Bournemouth’s Andoni Iraola could be the next United coach if the latest rumours hold.
