Two Police Officers Shot At In Kentucky’s Walton, Injured; Suspect Barricaded

Two police officers were injured in a shooting incident in Kentucky in the Unites States on Thursday, prompting a large police response and a shelter-in-place order for the surrounding area, according to a report in news outlet WLWT.

It is learnt that the shooting took place at the Towne Creek Crossing Apartments, located behind a Kroger store, in Walton. Police were called to the scene around 10pm.

According to law enforcement sources, both the Boone County deputies were in stable condition—one sustained a gunshot wound to the chest, while the other was shot in the leg.

As soon as the matter came to light, the cops were shifted to the University of Cincinnati Medical Center, where at least one of them underwent surgery. Their families were notified, the report mentioned.

Officials from the Boone County Sheriff’s Office confirmed there is only one suspect involved. The individual was currently barricaded and SWAT teams were working to bring the situation under control.

The report citing witnesses mentioned that residents were evacuated from the complex, and nearby businesses were instructed to shelter-in-place as a precaution. Dozens of police officers and emergency vehicles were at the scene.

As of now, authorities have not released details about what led to the shooting. An investigation into the shooting was underway.
