Shah Rukh Khan bows out of Rajinikanth's 'Jailer 2'; declines cameo to focus on 'King': Reports

Shah Rukh Khan and Superstar Rajinikanth may not be teaming up on-screen after all. The Bollywood superstar had fans eagerly anticipating his appearance on Rajinikanth’s sets this month, as he was reportedly scheduled to shoot a cameo in the upcoming film ‘Jailer 2’. However, as per the latest reports, Khan has allegedly opted out of the project, choosing instead to concentrate on his upcoming action flick ‘King’.

Shah Rukh Khan opts out of Rajinikanth’s ‘Jailer 2’

According to a report on Pinkvilla, the makers of ‘Jailer 2’, had approached Khan for a cameo appearance that would take approximately 5 days to shoot. At first, the actor was ‘open to the idea’, and even requested that the ‘Jailer 2’ release could be aligned post ‘King’, “as he wanted his appearance to remain exclusive to that film. He has a certain look in King, and he doesn’t want to have the same in any other film before,” the report alleged. However, Khan ultimately declined in order to maintain exclusivity around his on-screen presence, “especially as it marks his daughter Suhana’s big-screen launch.”Khan is said to have personally spoken to Rajinikanth and conveyed his eagerness to collaborate on a future project.

‘Jailer 2’ nearing completion

The makers of ‘Jailer 2’ had reportedly planned an August release and were looking to shoot Khan’s portion in April. The makers are now reportedly exploring other options to fill the cameo role. Recently, the makers announced that the film was nearing completion and that the project entered its final post-production phase.

‘King’ movie release

‘King’, on the other hand, directed by Siddharth Anand, features an ensemble cast including Deepika Padukone, Abhishek Bachchan, Anil Kapoor, Jackie Shroff and Arshad Warsi. The film is slated for a theatrical release on December 24, 2026, where it will clash with a number of box office heavyweights. As the film’s release comes just days after ‘Avengers: Doomsday’ and ‘Dune: Part Three’, it will face stiff competition at the box office. The film will also clash with ‘Jumanji 3’ that is also set for a Chirstmas release. Go to Source
