DLive has announced its official shutdown after attempting to compete with Twitch and YouTube through its livestreaming platform. The company announced the news on April 7 2026 which they confirmed will shut down operations immediately and permanently. Creatives on the platform now face restrictions because they cannot stream or earn money or manage subscription services. The platform which provided users with blockchain and cryptocurrency rewards faced difficulties to expand its user base because established platforms like Kick and Twitch and YouTube already dominated the market. The platform received negative feedback from users which resulted in diminished audience numbers. The company now requires users to withdraw their digital coins and end their subscriptions and save their content before the complete shutdown which will occur in eight years.

DLive and Felix “PewDiePie” Kjellberg partnership once gave the platform global attention

DLive experienced its most significant achievement of 2019 when popular YouTuber Felix Kjellberg joined the platform and promoted it. His support brought huge attention and helped DLive grow quickly for a short time. The platform stood out because it used blockchain technology through BitTorrent Inc. The platform used cryptocurrency to reward both its creators and viewers instead of using traditional advertising methods. At that time people found this concept to be exciting because it represented a fresh idea. However, things did not stay strong. After BitTorrent Inc. acquired DLive in 2019, the platform tried to push crypto-based features even more. But most regular users did not fully adopt this system. Many creators also found it harder to grow compared to bigger platforms.Over time, DLive started falling behind. It lacked strong discovery tools, stable income options, and a large viewer base. While Twitch and YouTube kept improving their systems, DLive could not match their pace.

DLive shutdown statement asks users to withdraw coins and save content before full closure

In its official statement, DLive clearly told users what to do next. The company said:“Thank you for your continued support of DLive. We regret to inform you that the platform will be ceasing operations. The top-up function, including subscriptions, has been discontinued effective immediately.” This means users can no longer add money or support creators through subscriptions. The company also shared that more updates about the shutdown process will come soon. It said:“We will continue to share updates regarding the platform’s wind-down timeline to ensure you remain informed throughout this transition.”At the same time, DLive asked creators to take quick action. They must withdraw their remaining coins, cancel any active subscriptions, and download their videos before access is gone.In its final message, the team thanked its community:“All staff would like to once again thank you for your support throughout the years. Thank you all for the incredible memories, the streams, and your unwavering support over the years. We’ll remember this for life.”It is also important to note that DLive faced controversy in the past. In 2021, a report by The Forward described the platform as a space where extremist creators were active. This affected its reputation and growth. Now, with strong competition and past issues, DLive has come to an end.
