NEW DELHI: Days after INDIA bloc’s meeting witnessed an intense discussion on NEET and other paper leaks, students’ woes and youth unemployment, Congress has announced that leader of the opposition in Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi will hold town hall discussions around the country on these issues. The first phase of the party’s nationwide campaign will start in Kota on June 17.Congress has planned a national outreach that will seek to unite students beyond political affiliations and provide a platform for the affected youth to share their experiences and demand accountability for “repeated examination failures and paper leak scandals”.AICC general secretary KC Venugopal said Rahul will also be holding conventions in Allahabad (July 10), Patna (July 11), and Delhi (July 14). Through this campaign, the party proposes to bring together students, aspirants, youth organisations, educators and all those directly affected by the examination scandals.Venugopal said physical and digital invitations, campus outreach, interactions at coaching centres, universities, schools and youth hubs, social media campaigns, live screenings and direct engagement with students would be undertaken on a massive scale. The AICC general secretary said Congress would also seek a comprehensive discussion in Parliament on the crisis confronting India’s youth, and advocate legislative measures to protect their interests.
