Tara Sutaria opens up about love, marriage and children: ‘Deceit, betrayal and lies are deal-breakers’

Tara Sutaria recently got candid about her views on relationships, marriage and motherhood during a conversation with Rhea Chakraborty, offering a deeply personal take on what she seeks in a partner and where she stands on starting a family. Tara also reflected on how relationships evolve over time, underlining that love alone isn’t enough.

Tara Sutaria recently got candid about her views on relationships, marriage and motherhood during a conversation with Rhea Chakraborty, offering a deeply personal take on what she seeks in a partner and where she stands on starting a family.Speaking about the kind of relationship she values, Tara emphasised emotional alignment over everything else. “I think both people’s idea of love should be similar, if not the same,” she said, adding, “Simple things need to align—your foundation, your base. How you feel about people needs to align.”For the actor, kindness tops the list of essentials. “Kindness is a non-negotiable,” she stated, while also stressing the importance of handling conflict maturely. “How you make the other person feel even when you disagree… how you deal with conflict and whether you can agree to disagree.”

‘Sometimes you have to like them more than you love them’

Tara also reflected on how relationships evolve over time, underlining that love alone isn’t enough. “You must like each other before you can even love each other,” she said, adding, “When you love someone, you have to ask—how much do you actually like them when you’re with them all the time? Sometimes you have to like them even more than you love them.” She further noted that self-awareness plays a crucial role in building meaningful connections. “If you don’t know yourself, you can’t know another person deeply… and therefore you cannot love another person deeply,” she shared.Having spent considerable time on her own in recent years, Tara said she now values emotional clarity in a partner. “That’s my wish for whoever I’m with—please know yourself. I’ve spent so long being by myself… so when I’m with someone, there’s less room for error.”

‘Deceit, betrayal and lies are deal-breakers’

When asked about her non-negotiables, Tara was clear: “Deceit. Betrayal. Lies. Dishonesty. Pretense… I can’t deal with that because I would never do that to someone.”While she spoke at length about relationships, the actor admitted she is still unsure about motherhood. “I don’t know… I really don’t know,” she said when asked if she wants children.Explaining her hesitation, Tara added, “You have to be so present for them. It can’t be second on your list—it has to be your number one thing. I do love children, but I’m not entirely sure yet.” She concluded on an honest note, saying, “I feel like when I know, I’ll know. If it happens, it happens. But it’s never really been at the top of my list.” Go to Source
