Lawyers have been protesting in the national capital against the LG’s notification for deposition of Police officials through video conferencing from police stations.

The police stated that until the meeting takes place, the lieutenant governor’s directive—allowing officers to testify in court and present evidence directly from police stations—will not be implemented.

According to a report by the Indian Express, lawyers have also called off their strike.

Earlier on Wednesday, the Coordination Committee of All Delhi Bar Associations held a meeting and decided to continue to completely abstain from work on 28.08.2025 and 29.08.2025, in all District Courts against the notification of 13.08.2025 issued by the Lieutenant Governor of Delhi in defiance of the circular dated 15.07.2024 issued by the Home Secretary, Govt. of India.

The Coordination Committee released a circular stating that the notification goes against the interest of the general public. It announced that a large-scale demonstration will be held on August 29 at 12 noon outside the Lieutenant Governor’s residence. Advocates from all bar associations across Delhi and the NCR will participate to raise public awareness about what they describe as an arbitrary directive.
