Strait of Hormuz: Indian LPG Tanker Crosses Hormuz Safely Amid Tensions, Supplies Head to India

Amid rising tensions in the Strait of Hormuz, a major relief has emerged for India as another Indian LPG tanker successfully crossed the critical route. The vessel, Green Sanvi, is carrying over 46,000 metric tons of LPG and is en route to India, ensuring stability in fuel supply during a volatile period. Despite Iran maintaining strict control over the strait and warning that no ship can pass without permission, Indian vessels continue to navigate safely. This reflects the success of India’s diplomatic efforts in maintaining smooth maritime movement. So far, multiple Indian ships—including Shivalik, Jag Laxmi, Pine Gas, Jag Vasant, BW TYR, and BW ELM—have safely crossed the route and reached India. Green Sanvi is the latest addition to this list. At a time when global energy supply chains are under pressure, these developments highlight India’s strong diplomatic ties and strategic planning, helping ensure uninterrupted LPG supply despite ongoing regional conflict.
