EXCLUSIVE: PM Modi Inaugurates Noida International Airport at Jewar, Asia’s Mega Air Hub

Prime Minister Narendra Modi has officially inaugurated the Noida International Airport at Jewar, Uttar Pradesh, marking a major milestone in India’s aviation infrastructure. The event was attended by Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, Deputy Chief Minister Brajesh Pathak, and Governor Anandiben Patel, highlighting the significance of the airport for regional connectivity. The Jewar airport is a greenfield project, built entirely from scratch on previously undeveloped land. Spanning 1,334 hectares with a 3,900-meter runway, the airport is designed to handle 12 million passengers annually in its first phase. With a budget of ₹11,000 crore, the airport features 49 check-in counters, 9 immigration counters, 13 security gates, and automated luggage handling systems, enabling passengers to complete boarding in just 20 minutes. The terminal boasts a modern glass ceiling that allows natural sunlight to illuminate the interiors, creating a comfortable and eco-friendly environment. Advanced facilities integrate digital solutions, including DG Yatra app-enabled entry gates for seamless passenger experience. Strategically located near Noida and Delhi, the airport aims to reduce congestion at IGI Airport and serve as a global aviation hub. Over the next five years, the airport is expected to expand into Asia’s largest air transit facility, enhancing international connectivity and economic development in the region. Officials showcased the airport layout and operational systems to the Prime Minister, emphasizing passenger convenience, security, and efficiency. With this inauguration, India moves closer to establishing one of the world’s most modern and passenger-friendly airports, setting new benchmarks in speed, technology, and scale.
