Union Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju again took a dig at Rahul Gandhi on Thursday, over the latter’s assertion of defeating the BJP in Gujarat in the next assembly elections in the state.

Sharing a video of Gandhi speaking in the Lok Sabha, Rijiju, on his X handle, wrote that just one roadshow and five international trips thereafter will not help the Congress party win elections.

Rijiju also wrote that speaking against India’s interests will not make Gandhi a genuine leader.

In the video, the Leader of the Opposition in Lok Sabha could be seen challenging the Bharatiya Janata Party, claiming that the INDI Alliance would defeat the saffron party in Gujarat.

“We will defeat you in Gujarat this time,” Rahul Gandhi could be seen speaking in the Lok Sabha.

“You take it in writing that the Opposition INDIA bloc is going to defeat you in Gujarat in the upcoming elections,” he adds.

Sharing the video on his X handle, Rijiju wrote, “He said Congress would win Gujarat, Haryana, Maharashtra, Delhi, Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan etc.. After one road show, 5 foreign trips won’t win elections.”

“And speaking against India’s interest won’t make you a genuine leader,” his post mentioned.

This came hours after another of Rahul Gandhi’s speeches was widely shared on social media, wherein he questioned Union Home Minister Amit Shah’s claim on the BJP’s long-term political dominance, and attributed it to ‘vote chori‘ or vote theft.

Gandhi targeted Shah’s recent statement claiming the party would stay in power for the next 40 years, and said, “A few days ago, Amit Shah said that the BJP will remain in power for the next 40 years.”

“No one knows what would happen in politics, but Amit Shah knows the future for the next 40 years. How? Vote Chori,” he asserted.

Earlier too, Rijiju had mocked Rahul Gandhi after a video showed the latter answering questions by the media following a press briefing, while senior Congress leader Jairam Ramesh sat next to him.

In the video, Jairam Ramesh was seen correcting Rahul Gandhi when the Leader of the Opposition said, “unfortunately,” he was a member of the Parliament.

ARUNACHAL PRADESH CONGRESS CONDEMNS KIREN RIJIJU

On Wednesday, the Arunachal Pradesh unit of the Congress condemned Rijiju for his recent remarks against Rahul Gandhi, terming it an “indecent personal attack and character assassination”.

In a statement, Arunachal Pradesh Congress Committee (APCC) general secretary Chera Taya alleged that Rijiju’s comments were an attempt to divert public attention from “his own failures as a leader and a Union minister”.

Rijiju, on August 23, hit out at Gandhi, saying that his own party MPs “get uncomfortable” when he speaks in Parliament and remain apprehensive that he will speak “anap-shanap baatein” (baseless talk) and the party will have to bear the consequences.

The APCC accused the BJP-led government of electoral malpractices, claiming that “vote theft, booth capturing, cash-for-vote practices, and inaction of election officers” marred the polls in Arunachal Pradesh.
