South Korean actor Lee Sang-bo passes away at 44; cause of death under investigation

South Korean actor Lee Sang-bo has passed away at the age of 44. The actor had previously been embroiled in false drug abuse allegations. Born in 1981, Lee Sang-bo began his acting career in 2006 with the drama Invisible Man Choi Jang-su. He went on to feature in several projects, including ‘Bad Love’, ‘Private Lives’, ‘Miss Monte-Cristo’, ‘Graceful Empire’, and ‘Golden Era of Daughters-in-Law’.

Drug allegations

In 2022, Lee Sang-bo was caught up in allegations of drug use. However, the claims were later proven false, as they stemmed from his use of prescribed antidepressants following the loss of his sister and parents in quick succession. At the time, police concluded there was insufficient evidence and decided not to pursue prosecution, closing the case without filing any charges.He returned to acting a year later with the KBS drama ‘The Elegant Empire’. Industry observers noted that Lee had remained active on social media until recently, although his accounts have since been wiped following news of his death.
