According to The Hollywood Reporter, the claim arose from an interview in which she stated, “I wouldn’t feel safe” while discussing a chapter of her life behind her. While the arbitration was later dismissed, the dispute has now escalated into a new legal battle. In a complaint filed on Wednesday in Los Angeles Superior Court, Twigs alleges that LaBeouf is attempting to unlawfully restrict her from speaking about issues related to sexual violence and her own experiences of alleged abuse. She is seeking a court order to block the enforcement of portions of the NDA, arguing that they violate California law.

FKA Twigs’ lawyer reacts

Mathew Rosengart, a lawyer for the singer-songwriter, in the complaint, wrote that Tahliah Barnett, “files this action to right a wrong, and also on behalf of other women who are the victims of sexual and domestic violence who do not have the resources to speak out and defend themselves from predators.” He went on to add, “In so doing, she seeks to ensure that survivors of sexual misconduct are not bullied or silenced like she was.”
